Articles and Books

While the China Partner newsletters provide brief, timely insights into China’s culture and policies, the Chinese Church, and how to partner with God’s work there they cannot provide you with all the information you may want to learn.  While the staff and representatives of China Partner would like to interact in person with as many individuals and groups as possible, they recognize that reaching everyone in person is simply not feasible.  In light of this reality, a collection of articles written by China Partner representatives and other informed authors is provided here to aide in your pursuit of learning more about China.  This is not an exhaustive collection but rather a carefully selected group of documents which convey the truth as the China Partner staff have experienced it in China.  China Partner recognizes that other individuals and organizations have and are still presenting differing viewpoints; however, since “each of [us] must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor,” this collection of articles has humbly been gathered as one voice among many, “for we are all members of one body” (Ephesians 4:25, NIV)

Please feel free to download (at the bottom of this page) any article China Partner has published, printing copies as needed for personal or group/church use.  Articles from other authors/publishers are copyrighted and thus permission to print and disseminate any of these articles must be obtained from their original copyright owner.

In addition to writing some of the above articles China Partner’s founder, Dr. Werner Burklin, has authored Jesus Never Left China: the Rest of the Story, published in 2006 by Pleasant Word (a division of WinePress Publishing).  Dr. Richard Mouw (President, Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, CA, USA) claims this book, “dispels the myths and misconceptions so many in the West have about God’s wonderful work in China.”  Ian North (Sydney, Australia) concurs, asserting, “Dr. Burklin gives a brilliant answer to questions about the controversial situation in China.”  “He has always endeavored to paint a true picture of God’s mighty work in China” claimed the late Ruth Graham, and “his firsthand experience and wide exposure to China make his writing and the story he tells credible, balanced, and worthy reading” according to Dr. Wilson Chow (President, China Graduate School of Theology, Hong Kong, China).
“This book will be the textbook for modern mission history in China.  Take it, read it, and be amazed”
                   – Dr. Stephan Holthaus (Academic Dean, GieBen, Germany).

In edition to the 2006 English edition, Dr. Teh-An “Daniel” Hsu, China Partner’s Director of Training, completed a Mandarin Chinese translation of the book in 2008, published by The Ark Limited (Hong Kong, China).
